5 games were played last night.. gotta say for a first try i did pretty ok.. =) better than some of the tipsters in the New Paper too.. but first, the results..
Charlton 0 Chelsea 2
Fulham 1 West Ham 2
Portsmouth 1 Birmingham 1
Sunderland 1 West Brom 1
Aston Villa 1 Tottenham 1
Chelsea beat Charlton but for most of the first half Charlton were more than a match for Chelsea.. were unlucky not to score too.. was a pretty open game with both teams having their chances.. Kishichev though let Charlton down on both occasions when goals were conceded.. having been caught in possesion by Essien on 2 occasions in the first half which lead to dangerous Chelsea breaks, seems that he didn't learn his lesson and again he got caught out at the end of the Charlton box, dispossesed by both Essien and Makalele with the former delivering a telling cross to Crespo for the first goal.. Kishichev also failed to close down Robben fast enough, giving him enough time to look up and place his short into the far corner.. after tht it was Chelsea all the way.. if Charlton had taken one of their chances earlier it'd have been a very very different game..
Guessed the correct winner for this one though the score was off.. Predicted a 2-0 to West Ham but ended up 2-1 instead.. West Ham didnt' disappoint though Fulham could be said to be unlikely not to have salvaged a point.. But i'm pretty happy with getting this right cause most of the punters were leaning towards a Fulham win..
Portsmouth drew with Birmingham as predicted.. =P but they somehow managed to score though.. with both goals coming really early on.. ended up even in the end, on the dot 4 this one.. result wise though, not the score..
Sunderland came within minutes of winning 1-0, my prediction by the way.. Gera won West Brom a point in the 90th min.. idiot cost me a perfect result.. =P came pretty close though u gotta admit..
1-1 Between Aston Villa and Tottenham.. James Milner put Villa in the driving seat for most of the game with a shot from outside the box early on in the game but Robbie Keane rescued Martin Jol a point with a late strike.. in between Jermaine Defoe missed a penalty thanks to a fantastic save by Villa keeper Thomas Sorensen.. Villa though would rue their missed chances in the first half to put the game beyond doubt with England keeper Paul Robinson making save after save to keep Villa at bay.. Tottenham played much better after the break despite Villa dominating the first half.. draw's a fair result though i'd have expected more from Tottenham..
2 out of 5 right.. almost made it 3 but guess tht's soccer.. not too bad for a first try eh.. =P lets see how i fare with Sunday's games.. =)
